Mr. Zhang signed and submitted a renewal application in February 2019, so the five-year period of the application is from February 2014 to February 2019.

In other words, Mr. Zhang lived in Canada from August 2013 to January 2014 without calculating the time.

Finally, Mr. Zhang had to spend a lot of money to hire an immigration lawyer and appealed several times. The final result was changed to "continue to live until the residence requirements are met, and then reapply for a maple leaf card". ”

Despite retaining permanent resident status, I lived for 8 months before waiting for a new maple leaf card. Two major domestic trade projects were postponed and made millions of profits.

2021 will be another peak in renewal after 2015. In mid-2015, the Immigration Bureau officially processed the application for renewal for half a year. Six years have passed and when the maple leaf card expires, a large number of permanent residents must be updated.

Due to the large backlog of applications, the formal processing time may be increased to 6 months again.
