After immigration to Canada, after obtaining a permanent Canadian resident, he will get a card (PR card), usually called Maple Leaf Card.

Permanent residents must hold effective maple leaf cards or travel licenses (also known as returning) in order to fly back to Canada by planes, trains, buses and ships.

The maple leaf card must be updated every 5 years and shows its validity period. If the maple leaf card has expired or within 9 months, you must apply for a more leaf card.

You can apply for maple leaf card update in the following circumstances

· The card has expired or will expire within 9 months

· Card is lost, stolen or destroyed

· No public relations chapter has not been received within 180 days after logging in to Canada

· The name of the legal change

· Change nationality

· Change gender

· The right birth date

· This is a permanent resident in Canada;

· Meet the requirements of Canada at least 730 days within 5 years.

· Submit an application in Canada (need to provide a residential address in Canada, the maple leaf card will be sent to this address);

Notice

Among the livelihood requirements of at least 2 years within 5 years, it did not start from the immigration login period, but from the five -year date of the signature date of the renewal card.

If you stay in Canada for less than 5 years, the residence will start from immigration login date to the application signing date.

Permanent residents outside Canada

If you return to Canada outside Canada, you need to apply for a permanent residents of permanent residents for permanent residents of permanent residents who travel permanent residents. When you return to Canada, you should apply for a more leaf card to renew immediately.

Can I return to China after submitting the application?

After applying for an application to the Immigration Office's office, the applicant can continue to wait for the new maple leaf card to get down or return to China to wait. Generally, it does not affect the test of the maple leaf card. However, you still need to ensure that the residential address you provided during the application can receive the maple leaf card from the immigration department.

How can I enter Canada if there is no maple leaf card?

Before approved the new card, if the old card has expired, there are only two ways to enter Canada:

1. If you hold a valid U.S. visa, you can fly to a city located in the Canadian border in the United States (such as Seattle), and then ask friends or family members to take you back to Canada by private cars. It also needs to display an effective maple leaf card to enter. (Because of the COVID-19 in the United States, this note cannot be used this year)

2. Apply for a permanent resident travel permit (PRTD) at an overseas visa center. Compared with the update of maple leaf cards, the application materials and procedures for travel permits are more complicated, and it is necessary to re -calculate whether to live within 5 years after applying for a travel license. It stipulates that it may face the loss of permanent residents.

Trial time

Before the epidemic outbreak, the renewal speed of the maple card was about 1 month, and the application for application for the peak period 5 years ago was 6 months.

Receive Maple Leaf Card

After the immigration department tries the materials updated by the Maple Leaf Card, after determining the conditions of the renewal card, a new maple leaf card will be made. In most cases, the new maple leaf card will mail the Canadian residential address provided by the applicant. In a small part, there are applicants who have not met for 5 years, but to update the maple leaf card through other channels, it will receive an interview notice from the immigration department.
