Official rules for entering Canada

Canadian permanent residents taking flights to Canada must carry a valid PR card and present it if they take other commercial transportation to Canada.

Update Canada Maple Leaf Card Conditions

To renew your Canada Maple Leaf Card, you need to meet the following conditions:

·Be a permanent resident of Canada;

·Submit your application within Canada;

·Meet the residence requirements: If you have been a permanent resident for 5 years or more, you must have actually lived in Canada for at least 730 days (2 years) in the past 5 years; if you have been a permanent resident for less than 5 years, you must prove that you have the ability to actually live in Canada for at least 730 days (2 years) within the 5 years after becoming a permanent resident.

·No deportation order has been received;

·Not a Canadian citizen;

·No conviction for PR card misuse.

As a permanent resident outside Canada, if you are outside Canada and do not have a valid PR card for returning to Canada, then you must apply from the Visa Application Center or the Canadian Visa Office, and obtain a permanent resident travel document, also known as PRTD.

Steps to Update Canada Maple Leaf Card

Step 1: Collect application materials

1. Your PR card

2. A primary identity document

Provide a copy of one of the following documents:

To pay the application fee, you need to:

·Use a printer (need to print receipt);

·Credit card or Canadian debit card

A copy of your travel certificate, such as a ticket or itinerary, showing your destination and dates.

·Copy of travel payment certificate showing date, full amount and method of payment;

·A letter explaining the reason for the emergency;

Proof of emergency, such as certificates issued by doctors, certificates describing the circumstances of death, and letters from employers, etc. Any documents that are not in English or French must be translated into English or French.

If you do not mail all this information, then the IRCC Immigration Department may not expedite your application.
