After paying the application fee, prepare a receipt that will be filled out and stamped by the Bank of Canada. This receipt is a fee receipt ().

If the Maple Leaf Card has expired or is damaged, the original and copies of the front and back sides need to be turned in.

For passports or travel documents, the copy needs to clearly show the name and date of birth, and even the photo must be presented. The type and number of the document must also be displayed. Important information such as the date of issue and expiry date must also be reflected on the copy.

Two ID photos are required, taken within the past six months, and must be exactly the same. The size is 50mm x 70mm. One must be affixed to the supplementary form, and the other must have the signature of the guarantor on the back, but it is not affixed.

For those of you who do not work outside of Canada, you must have a letter from your employer that proves that you are employed full-time by a Canadian company or government agency.

If you are accompanying a Canadian citizen, living with a permanent resident spouse, or accompanying a common-law partner living abroad, then the relevant certificates must be prepared.

If the minor children have lived abroad with their parents, they need to provide relevant proof of their parents’ Canadian status.

Applicants under the age of 18, birth certificates, enrollment certificates, guardianship certificates, etc. cannot be omitted.

Things to note:

- **Application time**: You can apply for renewal up to 9 months before expiration.

- **Application method**: There are two options, one is to apply online, and the other is to apply by mail. If you choose to apply online, you need to submit electronic materials with the help of PR; if you choose to apply by mail, you only need to send all materials to the designated address.

There is a review time, the time for regular applications is about 59 days, and the time for emergency applications is no more than 30 days.
