According to the statistics of working hours for accepting various immigration services in China yesterday, it took more than two months for permanent residents to apply for a replacement maple leaf card, which increased by nine days compared to the progress two months ago
The processing time data of domestic immigration business released by the Ministry of Immigration yesterday showed that it was more than two months to apply for a replacement of the maple leaf card. Compared with two months ago, the progress was delayed by nine days, and nearly one month more than the 42 working days required for residents who held maple leaf card to replace the new card as soon as possible in April last year. Therefore, those who are eager to change the card need to pay attention to the tight time.
The immigration department revealed that during the process of replacing maple leaf cards, the review cycle in each region reached an average of 67 days. The main reason for the lag in the card replacement progress is that after the case is transferred to the offices of each region, the communication time between the case center and the district office has been extended.
Since April last year, Immigration has urged individuals with permanent resident status to update their maple leaf cards in case they are unable to produce valid identification when they need to leave Canada. At that time, the Immigration Bureau announced the card replacement operation period was 42 days. However, statistics on application cases received as of November 17 last year show that the operating period has been extended to 58 days. Yesterday, when the statistics deadline reached November 19 last year, the operating period was further extended to 67 days.
However, despite this, those who apply for a maple leaf card for the first time are still expected to receive approval within 30 days after submitting the application form. At the same time, in order to meet the needs of the Canadian labor market, visa applications for home caregivers and family reunion categories have been shortened accordingly by two months.
The immigration department revealed that as of now, the time required to guarantee minor children, spouses, cohabitants or other relatives to move to Canada has been reduced from 44 days two months ago to 37 days; while the visa issuance period for guaranteeing parents or grandparents remains unchanged, still 25 months.
Since mid-last year, the approval process for maple leaf cards for applying for reunion immigration for spouses or cohabiting partners has been shortened from the original seven to eight months to five to six months. The current process of processing in this link remains stable; at the same time, people engaged in home care can obtain visas in only half a year.
In the short-term residence visa, the immigration department clearly stated that for Alberta students' employment visa applications, as long as they are screened by the so-called "case handling center" before submission, the immigration department can complete the approval within a minimum of 13 working days, and this process is not subject to the regular announcement time.
The immigration department is actively attracting international students to study in Canada. The current process for applying for a student visa has gradually been shortened from 37 days half a year ago. It now only takes 27 days, and recently it has been further reduced to only 20 days.
