Immigration is actually very close to you
Currently, when permanent Canadians apply for a maple leaf card or renew their maple leaf card, they usually need to mail paper application documents to the Immigration Bureau, and only Canadian licensed immigration consultants and lawyers can help residents submit their electronic application.
According to the Immigration Bureau, the average time for permanent residents to apply for a maple leaf card to replace maple leaf is 97 days (updated on August 12).
The average review time for the first application for a maple leaf card is 62 days (updated on August 12).
The Canadian government expects about 200,000 people to apply for renewal or replacement of maple leaf cards this year, similar to the number of applicants in 2016.
But soon, we don't have to be so troublesome!
Immigration Canada recently announced that it will launch a brand new electronic platform to facilitate people applying for replacement of maple leaf cards. Unlike in the past, people need to upload professional digital photos when applying, instead of mailing documents anymore.
The Immigration Bureau has not announced a specific date for the release of the new platform, but has confirmed that it will be launched any time after the system debugging is completed.
Immigration Bureau spokesman Faith St John said: Applicants must find professional photographers to take photos. Earlier this year, the Immigration Bureau contacted photographers across the country to provide them with requirements for taking photos of digital maple leaves, including how photographers prove the photographer’s identity.

Currently, only ICCRC registration consultants can submit the Maple Leaf Card application as an agent for online customers, and all other separate applications will also be mailed by mail. However, I believe that in the near future, everyone will be able to apply or replace the maple leaf card more conveniently! If the application is approved, the immigration department will send a new maple leaf card. After receiving a new card, don't forget to destroy the old card, such as cutting it in half.
