If you have not obtained a maple leaf card before leaving Canada or outside of Canada, but the maple leaf card has expired or is about to expire, you can apply to return to Canada. If you are in Canada but your maple leaf card is about to expire or has expired, it is best to apply for an update to your maple leaf card before leaving. If you really can’t wait to get a maple leaf card, you can apply for a PRTD outside of Canada.

You can only apply for a maple leaf card in the following ways

1) The maple leaf card has expired or is valid for less than 9 months;

2) Maple leaf card is stolen, lost or damaged;

3) No maple leaf card received within 180 days of immigration to Canada;

4) Information about the maple leaf card needs to be updated: name, nationality, gender, date of birth.

We will not handle your Maple Leaf Card application except for any of the above. If the Canadian government orders you to leave Canada, you are not eligible for a maple leaf card.

Maintaining permanent resident status in Canada meets the residence requirements of 730 days within 5 years (these 730 days can be accumulated and continuous residence is not required). In some cases, the time you live overseas can also be calculated within these 730 days.

To help you record your life in Canada, use it. Find out how many days you have lived in Canada:

1) Ask Canadian border personnel when you enter Canada;

2) When applying for or renewing the maple leaf card, the Immigration Bureau will also notify you whether it meets the residence requirements.
