Under the Maple Leaf reissue regulations, the only way to retain the Canadian Maple Leaf Card is: Permanent residents must live in the country for five years before they are eligible for renewal. From the time of immigration login, it is not the time to obtain a maple leaf card, and you cannot live in 2 years within 5 years. Its algorithm comes in two forms:

Reversing the day you apply for a maple leaf card extension, you will live in 2 years within 5 years;

It can be reduced to 5 years from the time you enter Canada.

In other words, as long as it can be proved that any reverse method meets the requirements of life for 2 years and meets the conditions for living within 5 years for 2 years, the Canadian maple card can be retained.

If you live overseas with a spouse with a citizenship, you will not be subject to this restriction. As a result, many "astronaut" families have spouses who return to their original residence after obtaining citizenship and living with a partner holding a maple leaf card to ensure that they do not lose their immigration status. Many of them also apply to become non-tax residents.

If the applicant does not want to live in Canada, there are three ways to keep the Canadian maple card:

1. Send to China from a Canadian company

If the immigration applicant or spouse is employed by a Canadian company and assigned to work in China, the period of working in the Chinese immigration applicant and spouse can also be considered as living in Canada without having to live in Canada. Furthermore, in the past, those who retain permanent resident status through this method have committed many frauds, and immigration officials have conducted very rigorous investigations into such cases. Therefore, the applicant is required to submit many supporting documents such as the company's business license, accounting reports, employment contracts signed with employees, payroll, income tax bills, etc., and explain why the company was sent to work abroad.

2. Living abroad with a Canadian spouse

The Immigration Ordinance provides that when a spouse (such as a wife) lives in Canada for 3 years and obtains Canadian citizenship for a total of 3 years, the other party (such as a husband) is a permanent resident of Canada, he can accompany his Canadian spouse from Canada to accompany his Canadian spouse and be exempted from living in Canada.

3. Regain immigration status through family gatherings

If a permanent Canadian resident cannot meet the above two conditions, that is, he is not an overseas employee of Canada and his spouse is not a Canadian citizen, then an immigration applicant can also restore his immigration status by applying for family reunion after the permanent resident status expires. There are two situations in this way:

The applicant's spouse holds a valid Canadian permanent resident status and obtains immigration status through a spouse guarantee;

The applicant's children over the age of 18 live in Canada, have a job income, and guarantees immigration status through children.

The guarantee of both cases is that since the applicant has confirmed his information at the Immigration Bureau when applying for immigration, the process is relatively fast through a family gathering.
