Permanent residents in Canada lived in Canada for 730 days. This is not unfamiliar to everyone, but when the "five years" start, first of all, we divide the definition of five years into two years:

The first case: first five years

SO is called the first five years, the five years after landing in Canada.

For example, the cardholder landed at Toronto Pilson Airport in Canada on January 1, 2018. Then, according to the legal requirements, the cardholder needs to live in Canada for 730 days before January 1, 2023.

Before January 1, 2023, each cardholder enters Canada, the cardholder can be verified by immigrant officials. If immigration officials believe that before January 1, 2023 (the first five years), the cardholder cannot live in Canada for 730 days, then immigration officials have the right to refuse the cardholder to enter the country.

For example, the cardholder left Canada on February 1, 2018. When he entered Canada again on January 1, 2022, he left Canada. He has lived in Canada for 13 months. He could not meet the requirements of 730 days of living in the first five years. For reasons, immigration officials can reject their entry.

Second situation: five consecutive years

After the first five years, all immigrants met 730 days in Canada for five consecutive years.

For example: Five years later, the cardholder obtained his new maple leaf card. Since then, whenever a cardholder takes the maple leaf card into Canada, immigration officials may still check his residence time. Immigration officers will enter the Canadian entry date again to start tracking for five years. If the cardholder has lived in Canada for 730 days in this five -year stage, he can enter the country. Otherwise, it may be rejected.

For example, the cardholder entered Canada on January 1, 2023. Immigration officers will be calculated from January 1, 2018 to check whether it meets the 730 -day residence requirements for five consecutive years. At the time before January 1, 2018, the immigration officer has the right to not calculate.
